Things to do on New Year’s Eve in the Algarve 2017
Almost the end of the year 2017, and almost a new year to start 2018. Are you in the Algarve? Algarve Housing will give you a few options to do if you like to celebrate this new year’s eve in the Algarve outdoors, watching the fireworks at mid night. Most large towns at the coast of the Algarve, have fireworks at mid night. Some have an all-night music program we mentoin a few, from Lagos till Monte Gordo. And can you buy fireworks in the Algarve?
Lagos
Praia do Infante/Infante square: the band D.A.M.A at 10.30 pm and DJs
Portimao
9 till 3pm at the Riverside, DJs and bands
Ferragudo
Arade Music Fest.
Indoor party at Centro de Congresso do Arade, Parchal/Lagoa.
8pm – Welcome reception with “sparkling cocktail” and background music by ALLEGRO DUET
9pm – New Year’s Eve Dinner
Musical show with SEXTETO SON DE CUBA (Latin music)
Midnight – Fireworks
Then it’s party time with the FLASH DANCE 70s & 80s HITS by DJ MARK GUEDES
Armacao de Pera
Another party-destination, Armação de Pêra will have live music on Praia dos Pescadores (Fishermen’s Beach) until midnight when there will be a firework’s display. After that, there will be live music (DJ) until around 3 am.

Albufeira
Albufeira always has a great night of entertainment with live bands playing before and after midnight and a fantastic fireworks display to start the New Year.
This year: 10 pm: AGIR and just aftre midnight: Xutos and Pontapes concert in the Praca dos Pescadores
Quarteira
Live music from 22:30 in Praça do Mar, followed by fireworks at midnight.
Faro
From 10pm, Jardim Manuel Bivar, a piromusic show, followed by DJ Sunlize and more party party….
Monte Gordo
The festivities will take place in the area to the west side of Monte Gordo beach on 29th, 30th & 31st December. The New Year’s Eve the party will continue through the night until 5am.

Enjoy your New Year’s Eve in the Algarve!
If you want to start the New Year with a refreshing dip in the Atlantic Ocean? Many local municipals organize new year’s dive, generally starts at 11 am. I know there is one for sure in Armacao de Pera and praia Pintadinho near Ferragudo.
Can you buy fireworks in the Algarve?
NO, it is illegal to have your own fireworks,you need to have a license. If you can buy this in the Algarve or anywhere in Portugal, this is for sure ILLEGAL. Personally, I do like this system. Each council organize fire displays at midnight. So it is arranged centrally. Relax and watch the beautiful fire displays with a glass of champagne!
