Canoe or Kayak?

What is the difference? A kayak in the Algarve is generally a bit more sportive, and sits max 2 people, a canoe in the Algarve, can seat more people and a bit of luggage. there are nice kayak trips on the Atlantic Ocean near Lagos, and Canoe trip in the lagoon of Alvor.
If you like to be independent, and do your own thing in your own time, you best rent a canoe or kayak in the Algarve.

Canoeing Algarve

One Canoe has space for 2 adults and one child under 10 years and a bit of luggage. Explore the  peaceful lagoon of Alvor, watch the fisherman collect their shells, swim in the water in the summer, and watch the flamingo's in the Winter. Enjoy the diversity of the Portuguese nature while moving through this untouched and silent nature reservoir.

Kayaking in the Algarve

The sportive kayaks are easy to handle and safe for ocean use. You need to have some experience to do the Ocean Kayak trip and have knowledge of the wind, waves and self-rescue techniques. Challenge the waves and pass the beautiful golden rock formations, caves and cliffs of Ponta da Piedade near Lagos. You will see many birds such as cormorants, seagulls and storks, anchor off at secluded, white sandy beaches,  swim and snorkel amongst the fish, swim in the crystal clear water of the Atlantic Ocean, catch some waves, a true experience!
For the less experience ones there are guided kayak trips, to learn those techniques or chose for the more relaxed canoe trip in the Algarve.

Canoe Trips Algarve

With an experienced multilingual guide, you can enjoy the Lagoon, or a river trip. With the leaving tide you depart from the fishermen harbor of Alvor.
River Trip
Paddle along the waterfront promenade of Alvor, up the river.
Passing the protected wetland, with a diversity of impressive birds and wildlife. Birds like stilts and storks are often seen. Nobody is too young or too old to enjoy this canoeing Algarve and the nature experience!
Lagoon Trip
Paddle with our experienced guide through the quiet estuary lagoon of Ria de Alvor to a sandbank in the middle of the lagoon. Watch how traditional local fishermen collect shell-fish. Enjoy a game of beach volley, searching shells or purely the sunshine, during your canoe trip Algarve
Since this tidal inland water is shallow and has sandy bottoms, the conditions are perfect for leisure experiences like canoeing Algarve and swimming or just relaxing.
