Ribeira do Banho, villa Monchique is a true oasis, a perfect 2 storey, holiday villa if you are looking for rest and peace, and surrounded by nature!
Located near the fairytale village of Caldos de Monchique, the villa Monchique is a luxury 7 bedroom, all en-suite, set in 5 hectares (12 acres) of private hilly woodland, in the mountain area of Monchique Algarve, but only a short drive a way from Portimao. Various terraces, beautiful gardens, super views give you the feeling to be landed in an oasis of rest and peace. The unique salt water swimming pool really has to be seen to be fully appreciated.

Accommodation

Ribeira do Banho, villa Monchique, is a new (accomplished in 2004), modern super villa, built on 5 hectares  of private grounds. The villa is spacious and decorated with style and has all modern comforts.

The villa Monchique has 7 bedrooms, all en-suite and boasts a double lounge and dining room for 14.
Ribeira do Banho has 2 storeys. On the ground floor of villa Monchique you find 4 en-suite bedrooms, all with twin beds. The fully fitted, well equipped kitchen has a breakfast table and doors to a little terrace.

The double lounge has ample soft chairs, around the fire place, a TV, DVD, CD, MP3, player and Wifi. The villa Monchique has an utility room with washing machine, tumble dryer and ironing facilities.
On the second floor of the villa Monchique, you find another 3 bedrooms, all en-suite with twin beds. Also a little extra living room with kitchenette. Here you find covered terraces with magnificent views of the Monchique Mountains and towards the coast.  
All beds, linen, bedding and towels of the villa Monchique, are of outstanding quality.

The villa Monchique has a cleaning service twice a week, linen change once a week(by 2 weeks or more stay), floor heating for fresh evenings (additional costs), and fans for the hot summer nights!

Outside

Ribeira do Banho, set on large piece of private country estate, in the hills of Monchique, is an holiday paradise, for people seeking rest and piece, in natural surroundings. The surrounded area is covered with olive, citrus, pine and cork trees. The gardens of the villa Monchique are well established with pretty, trees, plants and colourful flowers. The villa Monchique has plenty of terraces some in the sun, some in the shade, some overlooking the gardens and pool, others the superb views of the country side area and even views of the Atlantic Ocean!

The pool of the villa Monchique, is one of the most different and special pools I have ever seen, the owner has designed this pool by himself, so an unique salt water pool. The pool has infinity edges and is bordered by two ponds that are full of Lillies, Exotic Fish and Frogs. Become one with the nature in the pool of villa Monchique.

Surroundings

Ribeira do Banho is on the way to mountain village Monchique, but walking distance from Caldas the Monchique, a fairy-tale village, well known of their springs. The Romans and the Moors already used the bubbling spring water, this hidden source still works. The thermal water bubbles up from 33 ° C and helps against many diseases.

Here you find a few nice bars and reatuarants. Apart from this, there is an excelent restaurant, named Foz do Banho about 100 meters walk from the villa Monchique!
Serra de Monchique, is a mountain range stretching from west to east and has two main peaks, the Foia (900 meters) and the Picote (775 meters).

The vegetation shows a merging of subtropical and Mediterranean species: Central European oaks, pines, chestnuts, cork oaks, walnut trees, strawberry trees, azaleas, heather and oleander plants. In the valleys you see: bananas, oranges and olives.
Monchique situated at an altitude of 450 meters on the mountainside. Is known for its  furniture and baskets and for its ham. It is a small mountain town, 10 minutes drive from Foz do Banho.

The villa Monchique is only 20 minutes drive to Portimao, where you find the largest shopping centre of Portugal, Agua Shopping, and many large supermarkets and other shops, like Primark and H&M. Another 5 minutes drive and you are at Praia da Rocha, well known for its beautiful beach with nice rock formations, and lively night live, lots of bars, restaurants, a Marina (harbor) and lots of nice beach bars.

Not far from the villa (5 km) is an 18 hole golf course (Morgado), and the Omega Zoo is also only a 5 minutes drive. Other activities in the Algarve with in easy reach from Ribeira do Banho Monchique, are sailing, mountain biking, walking, bicycling, dolphin and jeep safaris.

For more quiet beaches, in half an hour drive you are at the West Coast, Aljezur, where you find beautiful white sandy beaches, lots of surfers, and a complete different world then Praia da Rocha!
