About the place

Quinta Eucalyptus is a newly renovated farmhouse Algarve with 4 bedrooms. The villa Monchique is situated in a quiet valley at the foothills of Monchique. Although there are no other houses in sight, the nearest beach is only 20 minutes away and the west coast can be reached within 30 minutes.

The surroundings of the villa Monchique are hilly, green and very peaceful. If you like to relax in lush green surroundings away from the crowds, this villa Monchique is the perfect place! But because it's only a short drive to Portimao everything you might need is within reach! In Portimao you will find large supermarkets, shopping centers and the popular Praia da Rocha, with its fantastic beach and its lively bars and restaurants.

Accommodation

Quinta Eucalyptus is a beautiful, restored farmhouse. The villa Monchique is of high standard and has 4 bedrooms in total. Downstairs there is a master bedroom with double bed, TV/DVD and air-conditioning. Adjacent to the bedroom is a conservatory/extra dining area with table and chairs, looking over the beautiful valley.

There is another double bedroom with bathroom in the same corridor. This bathroom has a shower and will be shared with the other two bedrooms upstairs. In the same corridor there is another bedroom with cot and hig chair.

Via the spacious lounge of the villa Monchique, you can go upstairs to a TV lounge with satelite TV and DVD player. Behind this room there are two more bedrooms: one twin and one double. You need to walk through one to reach the other. The bathroom is downstairs.

The villa Monchique has en open plan lounge, dining and kitchen area. The kitchen is well equipped and the lounge has a typical Algarvian high cane ceiling. The large wood burning stove keeps you warm in the fresh winter months as the airconditioning offers coolness in the summer.

Outside

The villa Monchique has a lovely, covered area with dining table and chairs. There are also several sunny areas with ample sun lounges. From the swimming pool there are lovely views at the surrounding countryside. The Jacuzzi (2 x 1.5 m) is a nice extra feature, which you can use for an extra 50 euro per week (the extra price includes the use of A/C as well).

Outdoor living during your holiday in the Algarve is nothing without a barbecue! Therefore Quinta Eucalyptus has a large built-in barbecue. Around the villa Monchique are some nice ponds where frogs give live concerts at night!

Surroundings

Quinta Eucalytus lies on the road to Monchique. First you pass Caldas de Monchique, a fairy-tale village, well known for its springs. The Romans and Moors already used the bubbling spring water and this hidden source still works. The thermal water bubbles up from 33 ° C and helps against many diseases.

Serra de Monchique is a mountain range stretching from western to eastern Algarve. Its two main peaks are the Foia (900 meters) and the Picote (775 meters). The vegetation shows a merging of subtropical and Mediterranean species: Central European oaks, pines, chestnuts, cork oaks, walnut trees, strawberry trees, azaleas, heather and oleander plants. In the valleys you see bananas, oranges and olives.
Monchique lies at an altitude of 450 meters on the mountainside. It is a small mountain town, 24 km from Portimão, known for its furniture, baskets and ham. Between the lovely houses in Monchique you can find the Manueline Misericórdia Church with a Baroque altar and the Senho do Pé da Cruz Chapel from the 17th century.

From the villa Monchique it is only a 15 minutes drive to Portimao, where you find the largest shopping centre of Portugal, Agua Shopping, and many large supermarkets. An extra 5 minutes drives brings you to Praia da Rocha, well known for its beautiful beach with spectacular rock formations, lively night live, bars, restaurants, Marina (harbor) and lots of beach bars.

Not far from the villa Monchique (5 km) is a 18 holes golf course (Morgado). The Omega Zoo is also only a 5 minutes drive from the villa Monchique.

If you prefer quiet beaches: within half an hour you can drive to the Atlantic West Coast. In Aljezur you will find beautiful white sandy beaches, lots of surfers and an unspoilt nature. It's a complete different world compared to Praia da Rocha!
