About the Place

Mendes Mill is a very special villa Boliqueime. It is situated on top of the Boliqueime hills, less then 15 minutes away from the beautiful market town Loule and the beaches and golf courses of the Algarve. The place is sprinkled with thyme and surrounded by flowers, carobs and olive trees. Outside you can feel a nice sea breeze.

The villa Boliqueime has been owned by the Mendes family since the beginning of the 20th century. Since 1900 the mill is called 'Mendes Mill'. More recently the villa got the same name. Mendes villa shares the same space and prolongs life beyond time itself. Between land and sea, always under blue skies, memories, vaults and a hatch that is always open to the newcomer. Enjoy this fantastic traditional Portuguese villa Boliqueime with numerous features like your own tennis court and private swimming pool.

The villa Boliqueime overlooks the traditional Portuguese windmill, which can be rent separately. Nowadays, this Algarvian windmill villa opens its doors for guests to spend some lovely days in Portugal.

Accommodation

The charming villa Boliqueime and Mendes Mill are nicely styled and decorated according to Portuguese traditions. The many paintings and antiques give the place a comfortable and cosy atmosphere.

There are 7 bedrooms, all with A/C. There is a separate living room, a dining room and private game room with pool table. Outside there are 2 swimming pools and tennis court. All around the villa Boliqueime and the views are fantastic.

Villa Boliqueime ground floor
Through the hall with little chapel, you enter the cosily decorated living area which has a large open fire place with sofas and comfortable chairs. Adjacent to the living room there is a dining area with table and chairs. The kitchen is well equipped including an oven and microwave. There is a separate guest toilet.

From the hall to the left of the villa Boliqueime you will find 2 twin bedrooms and 1 double bedroom, all with en-suite bathrooms.

Villa Boliqueime first floor

On the first floor of the villa Boliqueime there is another double bedroom with en-suite bathroom. The bedroom is spacious and offers lovely countryside views. On the first floor you will also find the private game room with pool table and other games like chess.

Villa Boliqueime annex

The annex of the villa Boliqueime is an independent house, with its own entrance, but can be accessed via the main house too. The annex comprises downstairs a lounge and dining area, kitchenette and bathroom. The entrance is at the garden side and is a nice conservatory. The annex of the villa Boliqueime has up stairs a double bedroom and a twin room.

Villa Boliqueime the Windmill

Of course the main feature of the villa Boliqueime is the traditional Portuguese windmill Algarve. Mendes Mill is located in the garden, apart from the villa. the windmill Boliquime has downstairs a kitchenette, littel table and chairs, wc and shower room. A steep stone stairs, take you up to the first floor where you find a double bed and an air-conditioning unit.

Outside

The holiday villa Algarve has 7000 m2 of private grounds and offers fantastic views all around. There is a lovely scent of flowers and trees. You can cool down in one of the two swimming pools or, for the sporty ones, play a game of tennis at the private tennis court of Mendes Mill Algarve. One swimming pool of the villa Boliqueime is between the main house and windmill, the second swimming pool is a bit further down the garden and has superb views towards the coast.

You can start and finish the day under the large covered outside dining area with large built in BBQ. This spot overlooks the lovely swimming pool and lawn. There are several sun lounges to enjoy the Algarvian sun. You can also relax in the shade, in the soft seatings or in the hammock. With a book or a glass of Portuguese wine... The villa Boliqueime offers various places to relax and unwind!

The garden of the villa Boliqueime has some nice features like original mill stones. For the children there is a play ground with see saw, swing and slide.

Surroundings

Only a few kilometres down the hill from the villa Boliquieme you can find the delightful golden beaches of the Algarve and places like Vilamoura, Quarteira, Vale de Lobo and Quinta do Lago. There are many beautiful villages like picturesque Boliqueime and towns like Loule and Faro. You can walk in the ancient narrow streets alongside the old chapels, local restaurants and wine shops. It will absolutely give you a pleasure to plunge into old traditions and culture of Portugal, taste delicious food, and meet friendly people.

The wonderful landscapes of the Algarve are full of wildness. The excellent warm climate compels you to move. You will discover beautiful hidden places and you will meet local people when you go hiking or mountainbiking in the mountains of Boliqueime or another area. Horse riding and jeep safaris are other persuasive opportunities to explore the beauty of the Portuguese nature. A boat trip along the Algarvian coast with its rock formations and golden colours is also highly recommended.

The Algarve is considered to be one of the best destinations for playing golf. Hence, early in the morning when men make their way to the finest golf courses of Vilamoura, Quinta do Lago or Vale do Lobo, they should not forget to take their women… to visit the Spa & Wellness centres.

With its numerous bars and discotheques, the Algarve doesn’t sleep at night and offers something for any taste and preference. If you are ready to test your luck, the casinos in Vilamoura, Portimão and Monte Gordo will give you the opportunity.
