Townhouse Algarve - Casa Antiga - sleeps up to 8 guests in 4 bedrooms. It is situated at the foot of the medieval castle in the centre of Salir, a picturesque village in the Algarve. Accommodation

As soon as you enter the townhouse Algarve in Salir you will be overwhelmed by the attention the architect gave to every small detail of the restoration. Casa Antiga offers a classic mixture of 19th century simplicity and modern comfort with rustic elements. The restoration work includes wooden floors, ceilings and windows and has areas of exposed rock walls and many original features dating back as far as 1871. The townhouse Algarve has fans for the hot summer months and heaters for the fresh winter evenings.

The 400 sq metres of the townhouse Algarve in Salir are divided over two floors. The house has 4 bedrooms (two doubles and two twins) and 4 bathrooms (one en-suite). They are all cosy and warmly decorated.

After entering the large entrance of the townhouse Algarve, you will find a dining area with fire place and a farm house style kitchen at your left hand side. Here you will find original parts of one of the towers of the castle. To the right there is 1 double bedroom with shared bathroom/guest bathroom. At the back there is a cosy lounge area with TV, DVD, stereo and an open fire place.

A stone staircase leads up to the garden level of the townhouse Algarve. Here you can find another 3 bedrooms and another sitting area. There is 1 twin room with en-suite bathroom, another twin room and 1 double room. The latter two share a bathroom.

There is a garden house in the walled garden which overlooks the garden and pool area with kitchenette. There is also another sitting/dining area, plus game room with pool table.

Outside

Outside the townhouse Algarve in Salir you will find a small private garden at the foot of the ruins of the castle Salir. This completely walled spot has a shaded dining area, a built-in charcoal barbecue and a private, kidney shaped, swimming pool.

After a refreshing dip in the pool, there is plentiful outdoor garden furniture to enjoy the sun or relax in the shade of the trees. Once you walk out of the townhouse Algarve garden through the back, you step back in time. Salir is a lovely little town with narrow streets and friendly Portuguese inhabitants. The town gardens are beautifully decorated with geraniums, other colourful flowers decorations and the ruins of the castle of Salir.

Surroundings

The townhouse Algarve lies in Salir, an unspoilt town dotted with white houses and narrow streets, situated to the north of Faro in Central Algarve. The village is fairy-like and lies in the mountains of Serra do Calderao, just north of Loule. It has a good local supermarket for you daily supplies, and many nice bars and restaurants where locals sit down for a beer or 'medronho' (local spirit). Many restaurants offer a good lunch including drinks, coffee and dessert for only 10 Euros! There are some festivals throughout the year of which the medieval festival in September and the Festival do Pina in June are popular.

Many people visit the area of Salir because of Rocha da Pena, a rocky massif that covers over 600 hectares reaching its highest point at 479 metres. The craggy landscape features a limestone cornice reaching 50 metres high. It is topped by a plateau some two kilometres in length. The natural beauty of the region results in a rich and varied flora, made up of over 390 species of plants – endemic, medicinal and aromatic – and the characteristic geographical formations of the Barrocal region of the Algarve. Highlights include a striking species of wild rose, yarrow, wild orchids and different types of scented rosemary. So put on your walking boots and climb the Rocha Pena Algarve!

From the townhouse Algarve in Salir it is only a 15 minutes drive to the town of Loule, a beautiful city with a nice pedestrian area. The town has cobbled, windy streets with shops, bars and restaurants and a large daily fruit and vegetable market. There is also a large supermarket which is open 7 days a week till 10pm. There are many yearly festivals to attend, like Carnival in February, the International Music Festival in June, and a Jazz festival in July. The beach is a little further down, about 20-30 minutes by car from the townhouse Algarve in Salir. Along the coast you can find nice sandy beaches and renowned golf courses. In the area of Salir you can easily organize horse riding or mountainbike trips. And, as mentioned above, the surroundings ot the townhouse Algarve are a paradise for those who love hiking.
